One of the most special days of your life, your wedding day is coming. You’ve selected your dress. The venue is booked, and guests are invited. But what’s missing is you choosing the perfect ring for the occasion.Â
Choosing the right wedding band before your big day can get so much overwhelming. Also, custom rings aren't something you just casually order on Tuesday, and you will receive them by the end of the weekend.Â
It is a process that takes so much of time, intention, and the right partner to get it right. At A.JAFFE, we help thousands of brides go through this process, educating them on what can work for them and making the process seamless.Â
In this article, we guide you throughout the process step-by-step on what you can expect when ordering a custom women’s wedding band before your big day.
How To Order a Custom Women’s Wedding Band?Â
Here is the step-by-step guide on how you order your custom wedding band.
Step 1: Always Start Earlier Than You Think You Should Â
This is the step most people often skip and regret later. It is more likely that you should start earlier than you think when you should start. Most people underestimate how much time it takes to get a custom ring, and that, too, getting it right.Â
Depending on the design, you should at least allow 8 to 12 weeks minimum from order to delivery. There are multiple factors, such as fitting, shipping, and adjustments, that you will go through.
It is better to start this process at least four months before your wedding day. Even if your wedding day is six months later, you can just start now. The earlier you start, the more options you will have, and the less anxiety as well.Â
Step 2: Know Your Engagement Ring FirstÂ
Your wedding band and engagement ring will live side by side with you forever. So design your band with your engagement ring in mind.
You must pay attention to the shape of your engagement ring's setting. Does it have a curved base? A raised center stone? A contoured profile? Your wedding band needs to complement but not compete with that shape.
If you wear one of A.JAFFE's halo engagement rings are known for their luminous halo of accent diamonds surrounding the center stone.Â
You will want a band slim enough to sit flush without crowding the halo. Our design team can recommend the ideal band width and profile to match your exact ring.
Step 3:Â Specify What You Need And Define Your StyleÂ
Before you even talk to a jeweler, you must have a good idea about what you want. You don’t need to know every detail, as that’s what experts are for. However, a sense of direction, specifying what you are looking for, will help a lot.Â
You gotta ask yourself! Do I want diamonds or a clean metal band? Do I prefer yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or platinum? Do I want something modern and minimal, or romantic and intricate?
Use Pinterest, social media platforms, and other websites to get your inspiration right. Save the rings you love. Try to understand the pattern.Â
You might be consistently drawn to a specific type of style, design language, or vibe. This will define your taste, which you will communicate to the jeweler.
Step 4:Â Get Your Ring Size RightÂ
Finding the ring size sounds simple, but it isn’t. Most couples or brides often get it wrong if it is not done properly.Â
Your fingers change size throughout the day. They swell in heat and shrink in cold. For the most accurate measurement, get sized at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest. Get sized at least twice, ideally on different days.
Also, you must consider the width of the wedding band. Wider bands fit more snugly than narrow ones. If your custom band is wider than your usual rings, your jeweler may recommend sizing up by a half size.
Step 5: Choose Your Metal And SettingÂ
This is the step where your ring starts to feel real. You would know at this point how the ring is turning out to be.Â
Metal choice is about both the durability and appearance. For example, Platinus is the most durable and naturally white, as it does not need any replating.Â
White gold gives you something similar to the look, but at a lower price point. However, these will require rhodium plating to maintain their dazzle.Â
Yellow gold, the traditional appeal you get here with it, brings vintage and warmth to your ring.Â
When it comes to stone setting, you must choose based on how much sparkle you want. Pavé and channel settings add maximum brilliance. Bezel settings offer a sleek, modern frame. Prong settings let light pour through each stone.
Step 6:Â Review Your Design Before It Gets To ProductionÂ
At A.JAFFE, when we crafts your ring, we helpyou through a detailed design review process. You'll see renderings or samples of your design. You will confirm every specification, such as metal, stone size, band width, and finish.Â
This is your chance to ask questions, make changes, and feel fully confident before production begins. Make sure to not to rush this step. Any good jewelry brand will always welcome your questions and concerns, as we do too.
